Learn bike safety, bike to work with city of Encinitas

ENCINITAS — The city of Encinitas is hosting several community events throughout the month of May.
Coming up at 6 p.m. May 18 will be a Bike Safety Workshop at Ride Cyclery, 559 S. Coast Highway 101. Keep yourself safe on the road with useful information on bike safety, training on how to change a tire, importance of hand signals, and other tips. Ride your bike there and receive 20 percent discount off of bike accessories.
Again serving the bicycle riders of the community, the city will host a regionwide Bike to Work Day on May 20. Join interested people from throughout the county by getting out of your car and riding your bike to work.

The free Cottonwood Creek Environmental Film Series begins from 5:30 to 9 p.m. May 26 with the film, “Wherever You Want to Go.” Included in this evening is an underground car show from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. featuring 10 electric cars and scooters as well as a regional panel discussion from 8:30 to 9 p.m. on the future of transportation featuring regional transportation experts.

There will be exhibits through June 6 including “Sacred Altars,” Environmental Art Exhibit at the Encinitas Library, Community Room,
540 Cornish Drive. The show is an
 invitational exhibit of 30 local artists curated by Rodney McCoubrey. The artwork is
created from up to 25 percent recycled materials.
