League lends hand with elections

COAST CITIES — The League of Women Voters of North Coast San Diego volunteered along with students at the MiraCosta College student government election for the 2011-2012 school year.
The students choose their own student leaders for the Associated Student Government MiraCosta College each year in the spring. Those to be elected include the president of ASGMMC, the student trustee, executive vice president, vice president to San Elijo Campus and vice president of the Community Learning Center. In addition to leaders, constitution revisions are voted upon.
The league is known for monitoring the election process for many government and school elections. In this election, the league volunteers explained the voting process and checked student IDs. Volunteers worked beside student volunteers at all three campuses. League members Barbara Lorentzen and Cathy Greene coordinated these efforts with MiraCosta College Director of Student Affairs Dan Mulville. Also on hand for the day were Leita McCormick and MiraCosta student Tuan-anh Nguyen.
