VISTA — A court sentencing took place April 27 for the Encinitas man found guilty in March of possession and distribution of child pornography, and of attempting to send child pornography to a minor.
Michael Gordon Douglas, 34, was sentenced to one year in county jail, followed by five years probation, and he will also be required to register as a sex offender upon his release, according to Deputy District Attorney Keith Watanabe.
As part of the sentence, San Diego Superior Court Judge Harry M. Elias “stayed” a term of seven years and four months over his head, Watanabe said.
“This means that if there is any violation of probation, he goes to prison for seven years, four months,” he said.
After the March 9 guilty verdict was read, Douglas was immediately taken into to custody.
The trial stemmed from a child pornography Internet sting that took place nearly five years ago.
