Holiday Wonderland takes shape Dec. 5

DEL MAR — Downtown Del Mar will celebrate the season and spread its good cheer with its annual Holiday Wonderland event. Hosted by the Del Mar Village Association and the city of Del Mar, the event takes place from noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 5 throughout the downtown Del Mar Village and is followed by Holiday Music from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and the annual community holiday tree lighting ceremony at 5 p.m., both held at the L’Auberge Del Mar outdoor amphitheater.
The community run holiday celebration features horse and carriage rides, Santa, strolling carolers, a school run cake-walk, holiday craft activities, restaurant tastes, Kids Fun Zone, snow, a holiday gift bazaar and more.
The event takes place throughout the Del Mar village starting at the Del Mar Plaza on Camino Del Mar/Coast Highway 101 from 15th Street to 11th Street. The L’Auberge Del Mar outdoor amphitheater is located on the northwest corner of 15th Street and Camino Del Mar.
Event details as well as Holiday Wonderland tickets (used for children’s rides, games, craft activities and restaurant tastes) are available on the Del Mar Village Association website at www.DelMarMainStreet.com. Pre-event tickets are $25 for 30 tickets. Day of the event tickets $30 for 30 tickets.
In keeping with tradition, a portion of the event’s proceeds will benefit local area schools. Past Holiday Wonderland proceeds enabled the Winston School to purchase science materials; Del Mar Hills Academy funded an artist-in-residence program while Del Mar Heights utilized funds to support music enrichment programs.
The Del Mar Village Association is an organization made up of Del Mar residents, business owners and property owners who are dedicated to working together to enhance the vitality of the Village while preserving the community’s history and character.
