Helpers needed to keep parade on track

OCEANSIDE —If you’d like to play a special part in this year’s Oceanside Independence Day Parade, its organizers, MainStreet Oceanside, are looking for helpful hands. The parade needs more than 75 volunteers each year to help it run smoothly.

A volunteer orientation will be held at 6 p.m. June 25 and volunteers will work the parade June 28.

Volunteer opportunities include:

— Data entry

— Script screening two weeks prior to the parade

— Mailing parade information to participants, two weeks prior to the parade

— Posters up throughout Oceanside through June 15

— Decoration of carts

— Decoration of float

— Street mark-out (Friday prior to the parade)

The annual Oceanside Independence Day Parade will be again held on Coast Highway from Wisconsin Avenue to Civic Center Drive. The event kicks off at 10 a.m. and ends at noon with more than 100 parade entries expected to march, roll, walk and drive down the famous 101 Coast Highway.
