COAST CITIES — Ecke Ranch and Weidners’ Gardens are partnering again on the eighth annual Charity Garden Tour & Plant Sale that will benefit Community Resource Center set from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 18. The tour will include five residential garden stops and admission to Ecke Ranch.
The gardens and homes include:
— The Norby home in Carlsbad, called “Heron’s House,” which has received awards for its energy efficiency, by Rich Risner of Grounded Landscape Architecture
— Balinese in Del Mar, with the landscaping theme of tropical confusion by landscapers Dave and Sue Ericson
— A house in Del Mar with unobstructed views of the ocean, in which the owners have worked with the limited space of the lawn area to create an open, eclectic sectioned garden that includes citrus trees, roses and a small bamboo collection
— A Rancho Santa Fe home with an estate-sized English garden that includes a hybrid green and sand trap, a 50-plant rose garden, various sitting areas, and a producing vegetable garden by Philip Turner of The English Gardener
— An Encinitas home with a Southwest garden of rocks, cactus and succulents and a backyard with artificial turf by landscape designer Joseph Hall.
