From left, San Dieguito Academy senior Alina Revilla gets help from Scripps physical therapist Lee Anne Robotta, to understand how challenging it would be to get out of a wheelchair and into bed if she lost the use of her legs. Revilla is one of 60 students from high schools in Encinitas, San Marcos, Carlsbad and La Costa who belong to Young Leaders in Health Care. The group meets monthly to learn about health care careers and participate in community service projects. On Jan. 6, the students learned about orthopedic and neurological physical therapy during hands-on demonstrations in the rehabilitation center at Scripps Memorial Hospital. Courtesy photo
