COAST CITIES — The 5th annual “Christmas in July” at South Carlsbad State Beach July 28 is a day of free family fun and a key fundraiser for FCCSB (Friends of Cardiff & Carlsbad State Beaches), a nonprofit association preserving the beaches from Cardiff to Carlsbad.
Local businesses, area residents and surfers can help a great cause by donating surfboards, stand-up paddle boards, bikes or other sports equipment or gift cards to the Christmas in July fundraiser prize drawing.
FCCSB needs donations of items for its silent auction or as prizes in the drawing (even good used surfboards and other sports gear will help raise money.)
FCCSB is also appealing to local businesses such as stores, hotels, bars and restaurants for gift card donations and other prizes.
“Our hard-working camp host volunteers have already raised $8,500 selling drawing tickets at $5 each,” said Bill Mahoney, founding board member of FCCSB. “But we’re appealing to local surf shops, area businesses and surfers to donate more prizes to help us raise as much money as possible with this fundraiser to protect the North County beaches. It’s all about local helping locals. There’s something in your garage you don’t need anymore; now you can use it to give back. Recycle your used surfing gear into funds for our non-profit that helps the local beaches.”
If you have a surfboard, skateboard, snowboard, camping accessory, bike or other prize to donate, call or text Bill Mahoney at (858) 603-2705 or email him at [email protected].
An FCCSB member will come and pick up the prize item donation and give you a receipt for your tax deduction.
FCCSB is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization.
