Forum about ballot issues for June election set

CARLSBAD — The League of Women Voters is presenting a forum about the pros and cons of the five propositions on the June 8 primary election ballot at 6:30 p.m. May 12, in the Community Room at the Carlsbad By the Sea, 2855 Carlsbad Blvd.
Voting by mail begins May 10. The League of Women Voters North Coast urges citizens to become informed about both sides of each proposition. Voters are not required to vote on everything. Proposition 13, a Constitutional Amendment, is regarding property taxes and earthquake safety. Proposition 14, a Constitutional Amendment, is about primary elections. Proposition 15 is about public funding of campaigns. Proposition 16 is an initiative regarding local public electricity, and Proposition 17 is another initiative about auto insurance.
For more information about your choices, refer to the East Voter Guide at www.easyvoter.org or www.smartvoter.org. The league is a nonpartisan grassroots organization and is open to both men and women. It never endorses or opposes political parties or candidates for public office. It does provide information about what candidates and issues are on each ballot. For more information about the league or its meetings, visit www.lwvncsd.org or contact (760) 736-1608.
