ENCINITAS — The post office on Garden View Road remains open despite a boarded-up window following a vehicle collision earlier this month.
Around 1:30 p.m. Aug. 1, the Encinitas Fire Department received a call reporting that a Volvo SUV had crashed into the post office between a support column and a wall near the entrance, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.
A spokesperson for the sheriff’s Office North Coastal Station in Encinitas told The Coast News that the driver, an elderly woman, struck another vehicle before crashing into the side of the building.
The driver told deputies she had no memory of the incident or how she may have lost control of the vehicle before the collision.
The Sheriff’s Office said there were no major injuries.
The U.S. Postal Service could not be reached for information related to assessed damage or needed repairs.
