DEL MAR — UltraStar hosted three of the surfing dogs from the new film “Marmaduke” at its Del Mar Highlands Cinemas on June 12.
In partnership with the Helen Woodward Animal Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the care and adoption of orphaned animals and animal-centered therapeutic care programs for people, the dogs were on site with their trainers for picture opportunities and to provide autographs, or paw-prints, for guests.
The dogs on site were Stanley, a 6-year old Chesapeake Bay Retriever that has been surfing for three years and has won numerous surfing competitions; Nani, a 6-year-old Bernese mountain dog who was the cover girl for the 2010 Surf Dog Calendar; and Dozer “Da Bull”, a 4-year old English bulldog who has been surfing for two years. All three dogs are members of the So Cal Surf Dogs
“At UltraStar we do more than just show movies,” said Alan Grossberg, CEO of San Diego-based UltraStar Cinemas. “We strive to entertain our guests and offer fun new ways for them to experience the magic of motion pictures. We are thrilled to be a partner of the Helen Woodward Animal Center and to have the Surf Dogs out to meet our guests.
