DEL MAR — Dress up in your best ’50s outfit and get ready to celebrate Del Mar’s 50 years of incorporation beginning at 4:30 p.m. July 12 at Powerhouse Park. The event is for the whole family, so bring a blanket and beach chairs. Activities will be provided by Community Connections, the Historical Society, the Del Mar Library, Keep Del Mar Clean and other nonprofit organizations.
The event begins at 4:30 p.m. check -in followed by games and contests including a dance contest, a display of historical photos and a time capsule. Rumors are that City Councilman Richard Earnest is planning to sign up for the Twist contest, which he won in high school. The barbecue dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. with entertainment from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Tickets to the event will cost $12 for adults, and $8 for children younger than 10 years. Log onto www.delmarfoundation.org to make reservations. A limited number of dinners will be available at the event at a higher price for those without reservations.
