Carlsbad resident danielle Couch, owner and artist of Painted Pals, congratulates young artist Keely Hsieh of Kelly Elementary School in Carlsbad who won the Henry’s weekly coloring contest. Couch and fellow artist Elizabeth Butler, also of Carlsbad, sponsor coloring contests for Henry’s Market at 2618 El Camino Real, but “I noticed that many mom’s felt uncomfortable going to their local coffee shop to enjoy their normal routine once they had babies, self-conscious about the noise level from little ones,” Couch said. So she approached the manager of Peet’s Coffee, 2641 Gateway Road, offering a free story time and art experience for the youngsters. She will be there again from 10 to 11 a.m. Dec. 7. Just for these events, she designed a T-shirt that can be colored and then washed and colored again and again. These can be purchased by calling Painted Pals directly at (760) 888-7303. The artists also do murals, face painting and birthday parties and offers free coloring place mats to restaurants. For details, visit www.PaintedPals.com. Courtesy photo
