College scholarship offered

SAN DIEGO — A contest for scholarships up to $2,500 is open to California students in grades six through 12. The contest requires that entrants write, draw or videotape why they deserve a spot in college. The contest is sponsored by the nonprofit organization Campaign for College Opportunity. The deadline is March 15.
Students are asked to answer the question: “Why should California leaders save you and your peers a spot in college?” Entries may be submitted in writing, poster form or as a video/television ad. Entries will be separated into two levels: grades six to eight and grades nine to 12. More than 200 prizes will be split among the middle school and high school levels, ranging from $500 to $2,500.
