RANCHO SANTA FE —Firefighters from the Rancho Santa Fe Fire Protection District were called to a structure fire July 5 at 10:21 p.m., in the 14000 block of San Dieguito Road.
After forcing entry into the golf cart storage facility at the Fairbanks Ranch Country Club and Golf Course, firefighters discovered that the fire had damaged two golf carts, but was kept in check by the fire sprinkler system. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the flames. Damage was estimated to be approximately $25,000. San Diego Fire is investigating the cause of the incident.
“This incident clearly demonstrates the importance of properly working fire sprinkler systems,” said Rancho Santa Fe Fire Chief Nick Pavone. “If not for the sprinkler system activating, the fire would have been much worse and the building could have been a total loss.”
