CARLSBAD — Through the holidays and into the new year, helpful and fun activities are on hand for residents 50 years and older at the Carlsbad Senior Center.Christinia Lee’s Hawaiian dance students will perform “Halua Hula O Pualani,” a holiday-inspired Hawaiian dance recital from 1 to 2 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Carlsbad Senior Center.
For those who need a lift during the holiday season, try “Getting Through the Holidays” from 10 to 11:45 a.m. Dec. 13. It is a free, informative discussion to help seniors get through the holidays with Certified Clinical Chaplain Garry Hodges. Hodges will offer ideas on how to provide a foundation for beginning the healing process while still honoring memories.
For some holiday cheer, drop in for the Adults 50-plus invited to the classic monthly movie, “A Christmas Story” from 1 to 3 p.m. at the center Dec.13.
The Carlsbad Senior Center will offer Jacki Sorensen aerobic dancing classes beginning from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. Jan. 15. Jacki Sorensen’s fitness classes continue to be at the forefront of fun fitness for all ages. Her classes are choreographed for the non-dancer, and include everything needed to get fit and have fun. Work your core, strengthen and tone your muscles, get a great cardiovascular workout and increase flexibility with a safe, effective get-it-all-together approach to fitness. Six-week sessions meet twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Participants can sign up for either day or both days. Once a week classes are $36 for Carlsbad residents and $46 for non-residents for six weeks. Twice a week classes are $60 for Carlsbad residents and $70 for non-residents for six weeks.
