BREAKING NEWS Two Carlsbad banks hit in separate incidents

CARLSBAD — At 10:27 a.m. Dec. 29 officers from Carlsbad Police Department responded to a robbery alarm at the Union Bank, 6988 El Camino Real. On arrival, officers determined that the alarm was valid. Witnesses reported that a white adult male, 45 to 50 years old, 5 foot 10 inches tall and weighing approximately 200 pounds, wearing a black baseball cap and a dark jacket, entered the bank and handed a teller a demand note. The teller handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect left the bank without incident. No vehicle was seen. Police officers processed the crime scene for evidence and no suspects have been identified.
Later that day, at 6:19 p.m., a suspect entered Navy Federal Credit Union at 1824 Marron Road. The suspect held a bank employee at gunpoint and demanded cash. The suspect collected cash from the bank tellers and then fled the bank. The suspect is described as a black male adult in his late 20s, wearing dark clothing.
