Board approves election schedule

RANCHO SANTA FE — The Association’s board of directors approved the election schedule for the upcoming year on Jan. 15.
A new Nominating Committee was formed from a draw of eligible candidates — all former board members — and included Nancy Hilgren, Wally Tenowith and Steve Heidel. The Nominating Committee will report nominations for the open positions on the board (there will be two vacancies) on March 13. The annual meeting is scheduled for May 14, the same day that ballots will be mailed to voting members. All ballots are to be returned by June 15 and will be counted the following day. On July 1, election results will be mailed to the membership.
Rather than rely on the Nominating Committee to find willing candidates, board Director Bill Beckman urged voting members of the community to run for the available seats. “It’s fun to run,” he said, “And it’s a great way to serve the community.”
In other Association news, Chief Financial Officer Steve Comstock received authorization to record a Notice of Delinquent Assessment to property owners who, despite several letters requesting payment, have failed to bring their assessments current. This past year, only one property owner defaulted. “This is very positive in light of the current economy,” Manager Pete Smith said. “They have been approached and they will not and cannot pay. So a lien will be placed against the property.”
Covenant Administrator Ivan Holler reported that Paseo Delicias is scheduled to be repaved in February.
The next board meeting is scheduled for Feb. 5.
