Best of local artists selected for Cannon gallery show

CARLSBAD — The William D. Cannon Art Gallery has completed selections for “The 2009 Juried Biennial Exhibition,” featuring works in all media by artists who live, work or have a studio in San Diego County.
Local artists taking part include Adam Belt of Carlsbad, Gesa Cowell of Carlsbad, Ariel Diaz of Carlsbad, Gerrit Greve of Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Paul Henry of Carlsbad, Thomas Johnson of Vista, Michelle Montjoy of Vista and Tara Smith of Carlsbad.
The Juried Biennial Exhibition takes place every two years; in the intervening year, four artists from the Biennial are showcased in an exhibition entitled the Cannon Art Gallery Invitational. The 2009 Juried Biennial Exhibition will be held Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 14 through Feb. 7 at 1775 Dove Lane. The exhibition will contain a wide selection of media, including painting, lithography, photography, assemblage, installation, furniture, and ceramics. A variety of cash awards will be announced prior to the opening of the exhibition.
Operated by the Carlsbad Arts Office, the Cannon Art Gallery is a focal point for arts and culture in San Diego’s North County, offering a broad range of exhibitions, school and family programs, gallery tours, lectures and publications to the community.
