Arts foundation gathers funds for scholarships

OCEANSIDE — Oceanside Cultural Arts Foundation believes in supporting local arts and artists. To that end this year, the foundation is establishing a Performing Arts Scholarship.
The funds raised at the gala scholarship reception, set for 6 p.m. Oct. 11 at the Oceanside Museum School of Art, 219 N. Coast Highway 101, will support those scholarships for local high school seniors who demonstrate excellence in music and plan to continue their musical education.
The reception begins in the Oceanside Museum School of Art and continues to the Sunshine Brooks Theatre where the annual OCAF honorees will be presented. This year’s honorees include Rich Langen, Don and Dave Megill, and Eliane Weidauer. Each one was selected by the committees for their lifelong commitment to music, as well as their devotion to young artists in our community. Audience members will also be treated to preview performances from several of this year’s OMFest concerts, including Ric Henry and Eric Helmers and the Oceanside High School Show Choir.
The program begins at 7 p.m. next door at Sunshine Brooks Theatre, 217 N. Coast Highway. Tickets are $125 per couple, with all proceeds going toward the OCAF scholarship fund.
To order tickets, call (760) 433-3632, or mail checks for gala tickets to: OCAF, Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 3054, Oceanside, CA 92051. Those unable to attend the gala, but who wish to support the scholarship program may send a tax-deductible contribution to the same address.
