Art lovers enjoy small treasures with ‘Holiday Reflections’

RANCHO SANTA FE — Art lovers from the Ranch and surrounding communities gathered at the Rancho Santa Fe Art Guild on Nov. 13 for a wine and hors d’oeuvres reception for the new showing, “Holiday Reflections.” The exhibit features small paintings of different media. “What’s special about this show is that we have a huge selection of small paintings,” Cindy Klong, who helped put the showcase together, said. “Prices are affordable. These are great gifts, something someone can pass down from generation to generation.”
Patrons attending “Holiday Reflections” agreed. “The shows here are always beautiful, but it’s so much fun to see the small sizes,” Elaine Antoniuk said as she admired the paintings. “It’s wonderful. The food is wonderful, too,” added her friend, Betsy Shoup.
Across the street, at the Wells Fargo Home Mortgage building, artist Alison Christler, from Encinitas, had a one-woman show premiering as well. Every office and room — even the restrooms — had artwork on display. “It’s a retrospective,” Christler said. “Work from the past several decades. I value all media. I love to do it all: watercolor, oil, mixed media, collage and acrylic.”
So which is her best painting? The Wells Fargo Home Mortgage Office was crowded with spectators and everyone had an opinion. Several purchased their favorites. But Christler, a youthful 65, remains passionate about her artwork. “The best is yet to come,” she said. “It’s all about the creative process.”
“Holiday Reflections” at the Rancho Santa Fe Art Guild runs through Jan. 3.
