OCEANSIDE — Now that school is back in session, Oceanside Parks and Recreation offers a variety of after-school and teen programs with benefits including active recreation, field trips, homework assistance and volunteer opportunities. Fall 2012 after-school programs will be held at two locations: Joe Balderrama Recreation Center located at 709 San Diego St., and Melba Bishop Recreation Center, 5306 N. River Road.The For Kids Sake program, designed for school-aged children in first through fifth grade, is offered at Joe Balderrama Recreation Center on Mondays-Tuesdays and Thursdays-Fridays from 3 to 5:30 p.m. and Wednesdays from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m., and at the Melba Bishop Recreation Center on Mondays-Tuesdays and Thursdays-Fridays from 3 to 6 p.m. and Wednesdays from 1:30 to 6 p.m. The teen program S.T.A.R.T. (Setting Targets And Reaching Teens), is offered at Melba Bishop Recreation Center Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. for pre-teens and teens ages 11 to 17.
