ENCINITAS – Sneakers were laced up and hundreds of runners were ready to hit the streets along Coast Highway 101 – and hit the streets they did on Super Bowl Sunday for the third annual Cardiff Kook 10k/5k run.

The race, which features a costume contest based on the Cardiff Kook statue, and a scenic coastline course, was co-founded by Steve Lebherz and son-in-law Seth Brewer.

Okwaro Rauro of Oceanside won the men’s 10k competition with a total time of 31 minutes and 26 seconds – that’s an average of 5 minutes and 4 seconds per mile.

A full list of the results is available online at geminitiming.com.

The 5k was great fun! Can’t wait until next year to run it again.
