OMA fills mall with interactive art

CARLSBAD — The Oceanside Museum of Art is sponsoring the Winter Wonderland Artist in Residence, in the Carlsbad mall, with an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 13, in store A12, on the first floor of Camino Real Shopping Center Westfield Plaza, 2525 El Camino Real.The interactive art installation will remain on view daily from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Dec. 24 and is free to the public. Winter Wonderland is a public artist-in-residence program that allows visitors to take part in the creation of a large-scale winter-themed art installation guided by artist Armando de la Torre.

Within the month-long artist residence project there will also be a series of free activities, showcasing many different forms of visual and performing art. In addition to de la Torre, a variety of local musicians, painters and performance artists will host these art activities.

As part of the exhibition, the series of art workshops, performances, pop-up shops and artist interactions will include:

Dec. 14 : “Scarfs & Stuffed Animals” from drawings with Diem Mi and Brent Langieri

Dec. 13 and Dec. 15 : Santa for Adults with Omar Lopex

Dec. 15 : Silk Screen Workshop

Dec. 20 : Shadow Poems with Van Tran

Dec. 21 : Jukebox Radio with Mark Dzula and Ardina Greco

Dec. 21 : Pop-Up Shop
