COAST CITIES — The Miss North County Coastal Pageant is seeking contestants for its Nov. 16 pageant to be held at UCSD’s Mandeville Auditorium. This is the pageant’s second year and will be run by two former Miss California USA finalists, Anna Lovec and Katie Koentje. The pageant is a preliminary competition to the 2015 Teen and Miss California USA pageant as well as the 2014 Miss Greater San Diego USA pageant. This year each winner has the opportunity to decide if she wants to move on to the 2015 Miss California USA pageant or the 2014 Miss Greater San Diego USA pageant. The application deadline is Oct. 12. Contestants will be scored in the following categories: Interview, Swimsuit, Evening Gown and On-Stage Question.
“This is a great opportunity for girls ages 13 to 25 to challenge themselves and grow over the year” said Koentje. “No pageant experience is necessary.”
Last year, 14-year-old Emma Reed was crowned Miss North County Coastal Teen and Kristen Yoon, 24, was crowned Miss North County Coastal.
Reed is a freshman at Carlsbad High, active in cheerleading and drama and was also selected to model in San Diego Fashion Week.
Koentje works at Taylor Made golf and is in graduate school for sports management.
The winners of each title will spend the year preparing for the next pageant, auditioning for fashion shows and participating in community events. She will receive a prize package worth $2,000, thanks to local sponors.
