Encinitas train death ruled a suicide

ENCINITAS — On the morning of Oct. 19, deputies from the Encinitas Sheriff’s Station reported that a 23-year-old man was struck and killed by an Amtrak train traveling north along Coast Highway 101. 

The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as Jon Curtis Lynch. He died of multiple blunt force injuries. The medical examiner is ruling his death a suicide.

Lynch was witnessed stepping in front of the oncoming train on the 2400 block of North Coast Highway 101.
