Bike the Coast – Taste the Coast great for new riders

COAST CITIES — For a novice rider like Sonia Duncan-Boba, the fourth annual Bike The Coast – Taste The Coast presented by Tri-City Medical Center set for Nov. 2 in Oceanside is the ideal solution for those seeking their very first cycling event. With a choice of five routes – a 7-mile and 15-mile along the San Luis Rey Bike Trail and 25-, 50- and 100-mile bicycle rides through the San Diego North County beach towns – the event is a blend of gentle rides for inexperienced riders and more challenging routes for expert riders. Proceeds from the ride support the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition.

Duncan-Boba, who plans to ride in the 15-mile route, hopes this event will be a springboard to participating in the Jake’s Off Road Triathlon in Jamaica in 2014. Entries for the event will be capped at 2,500 riders. To secure a place, register by visiting bike-the-coast.com.

The San Diego County Bicycle Coalition, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is dedicated to making bicycling better in San Diego. The ride is supported locally by the Oceanside Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee. For more information including course maps, event schedule and registration, visit bike-the-coast.com.
