CARLSBAD — 30 years ago, Carlsbad Community Theatre put on its first production – and now to celebrate, it is presenting “The Sound of Music,” the same classic musical again, 30 years later this August at The Star Theatre, 402 N. We have 10 families in the show, one of which is three generations – father/daughter/granddaughter,” said Producer Gena Hornung.
Jim Tompkins MacLaine and Ali Whitman will direct. The cast is made up of approximately 50 actors, both youth and adult.
The theater will celebrate its 30th year at a gala event, the opening night of the summer production, for a fun night of food, fundraising, and live theater at 5 p.m. Aug. 9. Tickets are $25 on sale at carlsbadcommunitytheatre.com and will be held at will call.
