ALNC gives students bus passes

OCEANSIDE — In order for students to be successful at school, they must first attend on a regular basis. When Principal Barbara Perez found out that several of the students at Ocean Shores High School were not attending school regularly because they were having difficulty paying for bus passes to bring them to school, she contacted Assistance League of North Coast to see if they could help.ALNC’s mission is to serve the needs of students in local communities with the goal of providing a positive starting point for academic success. As a result of this contact, ALNC donated $2,160 to purchase 20 student bus passes for a three-month trial period. During this period, students’ attendance will be tracked and reported to determine if this improves attendance with these students.

If all goes well, the program will continue. For more information about Assistance League of North Coast visit alnc.org or support its Thrift Store at 1820A Oceanside Blvd. Thrift store hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m to 3 p.m. and Mondays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
