Ice-free zones offer roller hockey leagues

OCEANSIDE — Based in Oceanside and specializing in the promotion of inline roller hockey, Tri-City Inline Hockey League has recently relocated to a new rink and is currently accepting players (ages 5 to 17) for registration to its Spring 2013 Season (March-May). The league is now operating from the Martin Luther King Jr. Park’s hockey rink at 4300 Mesa Drive.Registration was held through Feb. 19 for Mites, Pee Wees, Squirts and Bantam/Midgets. Opening day of Tri-City Inline Hockey League’s season is March 2. Tri-City Inline Hockey League is a non-profit organization offering low-cost games and training to the youth of Tri-City and surrounding areas. Its organized recreational co-ed program was founded 20 years ago and was the first sanctioned inline league in California by USA Hockey. The board of directors and league operations are all staffed by local volunteers. The league’s mission is to stress the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, scholastic achievement, integrity and respect for authority, and to promote the game of inline hockey in the Tri-City area. The organization offers two seasons per year (March to May and September to November) with clinics, camps, tournaments, and pick-up play between seasons.
