Free tax help for Oceanside residents

OCEANSIDE — Oceanside taxpayers will have the opportunity to prepare and file their own taxes, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Oceanside Public Library, Civic Center, 330 N. Coast Highway, with the help of volunteers, using TurboTax Freedom Edition software.Taxpayers are eligible to prepare and file their taxes for free at this event if they had an adjusted gross income (AGI) of $31,000 or less in 2012 or were on active military duty and earned $57,000 or less AGI. Individuals can learn if they are EITC-eligible, by using the EITC Calculator at taxprephelp.org or downloading the EITC Finder App directly to their smartphone.

While walk-ins are welcome, interested taxpayers are encouraged to call (866) 577-1231 for an appointment.

This event will promote the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and ensure EITC-eligible families and individuals claim the important tax credit. The event is part of a statewide tour sponsored by the Computer & Communications Industry Association (CCIA) and the Intuit Financial Freedom Foundation.
