ENCINITAS — Tickets are on sale now for a combination classical music and art event brought to North County. This spring, Art of Élan continues to push the boundaries of classical music by bringing one-hour concerts to North County audiences at the Lux Art Institute, 1550 S. El Camino Real. The concert will be at 7 p.m. April 4 with a special reception held at 6 p.m. prior to the concert.Advance ticket purchase is recommended as seating is limited to an audience of 75. Tickets cost $25 for general admission, $20 for Lux Art members and $10 for students. Call (760) 436-6611, online at luxartinstitute.org, or at the door.
Art of Élan’s regular season concerts have been performed at The San Diego Museum of Art for the past five years. The one-hour show will include highlights from recent Art of Élan seasons, featuring Demarre McGill on flute, along with works by NYC composer LJOVA and Mexican composer Arturo Marquez. The concert will also be paired with an opportunity to view the art on display in the Lux studio and allow concertgoers to mingle with the musicians at a special pre-concert reception.
From March 14 through April 13, Lux will host James Chronister, a painter who employs a labor-intensive, pointillist technique to achieve strikingly nuanced tonality and depth in his creations. Armed with a tiny brush, he meticulously applies dots of white pigment onto a black background until the images of snowy forest landscapes and palatial interiors emerge.
Funding for this concert was provided by former County Supervisor Pam Slater-Price. For more information, visit artofelan.org, email to firstname.lastname@example.org or (619) 692-2081.
