Stay fit and mobile with senior center classes

CARLSBAD — The Carlsbad Senior Center offers ongoing classes for fitness and well-being.Chair yoga classes for adults ages 50 and older begin from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. Feb. 7. This class incorporates the health benefits of yoga along with the support of a chair, and is geared toward seniors who desire to integrate the ancient healing system of yoga into their life. Increase range of motion and core strength and learn to relax and rejuvenate, all while sitting in a chair. Fees are $28 for four classes for Carlsbad residents and $38 for non-residents. Drop-in fee for one class is $9.

Seniors can also take Pilates/yoga (PiYo) classes for adults ages 50 and older beginning from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. Feb. 7. Geared for seniors, this class combines the rejuvenating benefits of yoga along with the core strengthening benefits of Pilates for a stress-reducing experience developed to improve balance, flexibility, circulation and posture. Little to no food is suggested two hours before practice. Fees are $25 for four classes for Carlsbad residents and $35 for non-residents. Drop-in fee for one class is $8.

Weekly “Live Long: Do Qigong” classes begin from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Feb. 5. Increase energy, reduce stress, improve sleep patterns, enhance mental acuity and strengthen immune system with the clinically proven practice of Qigong. All physical conditions welcome. Fees are $32 for four classes for Carlsbad residents and $42 for non-residents. Drop in fee for one class is $10.
