CARDIFF-BY-THE-SEA — Get your kook on and enjoy coastline views while burning off the calories before Super Bowl snacks at the Cardiff Kook 5K Run from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Feb. 3. Register now at cardiffkookrun.com.The Cardiff Kook 5K Run was created to promote healthy living while giving back to the community. All proceeds from the event will go directly into improving Cardiff-by-the-Sea.
Registration will take place at Moonlight Beach parking lot and the run takes place along 2nd Street and South Coast Highway 101. The scenic 10k loop will begin at Moonlight Beach, head south to pass below the famous Cardiff Kook along the 101, rise above some of the most popular surf breaks in San Diego and then make its way down to Cardiff State Beach. Then you get to experience it all again on your way back.
The 2013 Cardiff Kook Run Award is now on display at the Cardiff Library.
The planners also have specific community goals for the run: 1) Establish a foundation for the Safety and Preservation of the “Magic Carpet Ride” and surrounds; 2) Fund additional P.E. programs at Cardiff Elementary; 3) Assist the community of Cardiff with park-related funding. All proceeds go right back into improving Cardiff-by-the-Sea.
Parking is available at Moonlight Beach, Encinitas Coaster Station, City Hall and Cottonwood Creek Park.
