OCEANSIDE — MiraCosta College will offer a new credit class this spring, Caregiving: Techniques for Working with the Frail Elderly.This three-unit course provides practical and theoretical information on age-related physical and cognitive changes and how to work with the elderly who are frail due to advanced age and/or chronic illness. It explores cultural diversity and its effect on caregiving, health consequences of caregiving, and available community resources. This course is specifically targeted for students interested in working in the field of aging or those who are caregivers for family members.
This 3-unit course counts toward the associate degree in gerontology, and also satisfies the Plan A, G.E. Area F (Cultural Diversity). It is acceptable for elective credit at CSU, and there is no prerequisite. This is an online late-start course and begins Jan. 28. Apply now at miracosta.edu.
