Exhibit spotlights four top photographers

CARLSBAD — The Oceanside Art Gallery will present a photographic exhibit ”Cubra Libre” in the main gallery from Oct. 24 through Nov. 19, at the gallery, 300 Carlsbad Village Drive, Suite 103.Exhibiting photographers will include Marv Sloben and Lisa Vella, instructors at San Diego City College, and Elaine McElhenny and Terry Scott Allen, two of their students. The photos, in both black-and-white and color, depict Cuban life and landscapes and were taken during a cultural visit in June of this year. Resident artists Joe and Mary Villela, B.A. Stuber, Kene Lohmann, Paul Weber, and Sam Franczyk will display their work in the other gallery showrooms.

The community is invited to an open house to be held during the art walk “Cruising the Art Scene” 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 25, to celebrate the opening, and will include refreshments, music and art demonstrations. A second reception will also be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 2, with all photographers on hand to discuss their art.

The Oceanside Art Gallery is open Tuesdays, 6 to 9 p.m.; Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursdays and Fridays from noon to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 am to 2 p.m. Classes are available in oil and watercolor painting and hand-built ceramics.
