OCEANSIDE — Experience some of the traditions of the German Oktoberfest at the Oceanside Public Library.Monica Wetter-Parme, a member of the German-American Societies of San Diego, will present a program about Oktoberfest Sept. 22 at 1 p.m. at the Civic Center Library Community Rooms, 330 N. Coast Highway 101.
During the program you will learn about the history and traditions of this festival, listen to Oktoberfest music, play games and try some tasty authentic German appetizers. Find out why people have flocked to Germany from all parts of the globe to participate in the world’s largest annual festival for nearly 200 years. Monica Wetter-Parme was born and raised in Heidelberg, Germany, where she was fully involved in German traditions and merrymaking. Since coming to San Diego decades ago, Monica has been active in the German American Societies of San Diego and El Cajon, maintaining her connection with many of the German customs and traditions, and sharing her experiences with her friends in California.
