Library brings zombie books to life

ENCINITAS — Encinitas teens will enjoy all kinds of undead fun at the Encinitas Library zombie-themed “teen lock-in” party from 6 to 10 p.m. Aug. 3 at 540 Cornish DriveThe library will close its doors as usual and then reopen to teens only for a variety of goulish entertainment. Activities will include a zombie make-up workshop, a “freaky frankentoys” art project, an online video chat with Jonathan Maberry, author of acclaimed zombie novels “Rot & Ruin” and “Dust & Decay,” and a lesson in how to do Michael Jackson’s famed “Thriller Dance.”

The party will also include food provided by Souplantation of Encinitas, games and movies clips, as well as lots of prize giveaways. The event is open to teens age 12 to 18 and requires a permission slip signed by a parent. The Encinitas Library’s Teen Zombie Party is part a nationwide “teen lock-in,” with after-hours events taking place at more than 80 libraries across the country.
