Teens take on challenge to help homeless

CARLSBAD — Sister and brother team, William and Kamden Maas, are busy again this summer collecting fashionable, brand-name clothes to donate to the homeless youngsters at Toussaint’s Academy.Carlsbad High School student Kamden and brother Willy, who attends St. Patrick’s School, will happily arrange to pick up all donations. They collect clothing all year long and deliver two or three times to Toussaint’s. For this latest summer gathering, they have already filled four bags.

“We collect, clean and organize ‘name brand’ clothes like Quicksilver, Roxy Volcom, DC, and any other ‘cool’ clothes,” William said. “We do this because although we like to believe that a person should not be judged by the clothes they have on, as teens, we know that is not true. We believe that these homeless kids have a hard enough time getting through everyday life and we want them to look cool.”

If you would like to donate, call (760) 978-1830.
