I think that Mr. Vina should have been more careful with his choice of metaphors. His story about the jackass that was drowned by the two people who were carrying him across a bridge may not have been communicated the way that he had hoped.
More than a few Encinitas taxpayers feel like WE are bearing the weight of City employee salaries and pensions. Since WE are the ones who have paid for this plan, it is disappointing that the only ones who seem happy are the various consultants and the Planning staff who have gotten paid despite the drop in City development by over half in the past 2 years.
Why has the Planning Department not been downsized?
The developer packed ERAC Commission, in collaboration with ‘facilitator’ Peder Norby, have decided to call this new high density ’30 Plus.’
It sounds so much nicer than letting people know that our current maximum density is 25 units per acre–and they don’t want to raise it to 30, they want 45! So their term 30 Plus doesn’t even sound like they are trying to double our density! Brilliantly misleading! Why not let Encinitas citizens vote on this instead??
