CARLSBAD — Elle Lichter, a senior at Pacific Ridge High School, received recognition for her leadership in implementing a green battery program at her school. When she first heard of SaveME batteries, a green alternative to traditional, disposable alkaline batteries, she was interested in introducing them to her school. She connected with the San Diego-based company to learn more about their refillable batteries. With her leadership, Pacific Ridge is now the first high school to convert completely to the SaveMe green battery program.
“The program that Elle implemented has been well received and will now serve as a model for other interested school across the nation, said Joe Yeagley, co-founder SaveME batteries. “Elle wanted to do a senior project that left a legacy at her school after she graduated this year and Pacific Ridge has always had a strong commitment to sustainability so a green battery program was the perfect fit.”
