Del Mar gathers to welcome city manager

DEL MAR — It was a well-attended event at Powerhouse Community Center Jan. 17 to welcome in new City Manager Scott Huth.

Attendees included current and former City Council members, staff and members of community and citizen advisory groups.

The event included light appetizers such as chicken satay skewers, turkey sliders and meatballs, fruit and vegetable trays, desserts and beverages. City Councilwoman Lee Haydu was given a $1,000 budget for the reception.

Huth, a native San Diegan, joined the city Jan. 1 after serving as the public services director for Coronado since 1995.
He took over from Del Mar’s interim City Manager Mark Ochenduszko, who replaced Karen Brust in June 2011.

Residents previously had a chance to meet Huth at a Jan. 12 scoping meeting for downtown revitalization, which he said currently “is the top priority for the city of Del Mar.”
