Encinitas couple organize hospital charity event

ENCINITAS — The Foundation for the Children of the Californias annual fundraising concert gala on behalf of the Hospital Infantil de las Californias has come together with the leadership of event co-chairpersons and Encinitas residents Steve Redfearn and Ashley Constans.
The pair are president and director of operations of the event production company, Redfearn & Associates. This year’s “Concert for the Children” benefit will be held at the Oct. 7 in La Jolla. The organizers have booked Grammy award-winning and recording artist, Kenny Loggins as its headliner. Proceeds from this special evening support of the Hospital Infantil de las Californias, the only pediatric medical facility in northwest Mexico, offering more than 35 pediatric surgical and medical services at affordable costs as well as financial assistance to families in need.
Located a half-mile into Baja, Hospital Infantil de las Californias provides healthcare for the neediest children on both sides of the border and has been doing so since the first patient was seen in 1994. For 17 years the Hospital Infantil de las Californias has carried out its simple mission: to improve the health of children in this region by delivering essential medical care. Guided by co-founding physicians Elizabeth G. Jones and Gabriel Chong King, the clinic now hosts services from more than 200 pediatric professionals, many who proudly and generously donate their services on a volunteer basis.
Proceeds from the event will ensure that the hospital can keep pediatric surgical and medical services at affordable costs as well as continue to offer financial assistance to families in need. The hospital established the Programa de Apoyo a Pacientes Indigentes Program (P.A.P.I.) to assist with these medical expenses and ensure that any child, regardless of their ability to pay, will receive the surgeries and care they need.
