OCEANSIDE — Death is an inevitable part of life and Oceanside Museum of Art invites artists to express thoughts on death and what becomes of us, in the upcoming juried exhibition “Memento Mori: Remember Your Mortality.” All submissions are due by Sept. 1.
Presented in conjunction with the museum’s next Art After Dark event on Oct. 28, this exhibition will focus on concepts surrounding mortality, life, renewal, inner darkness, dystopia, cultural and historical understandings of death and the vanitas genre. Artists of all media are encouraged to submit up to three images for review. Works will be on public view in the museum’s Groves Gallery from Oct. 15 through Oct. 30.
Selected artists will be notified by Sept. 9 and will be required to deliver their ready-to-install artwork by Sept. 20. To submit work, e-mail or mail a CD with up to three high-resolution jpg images (300 dpi at 5-by-7-inches) along with an artist’s statement, biography and resume to Danielle Deery at [email protected] or care of the Oceanside Museum of Art, 704 Pier View Way, Oceanside, CA 92054.
