MiraCosta students shine at the fair

COAST CITIES — MiraCosta College students from the art, digital art and design drafting classes were honored with some of the San Diego County Fair’s highest awards.
Students from MiraCosta’s art and digital art classes received awards, including two Best-in-Show and seven Best-in-Class ribbons in various divisions:
— Kelsey Brewer, Best in Class, Image Collage
— Amy Chin, Best in Show/Best in Class, Image Collage
— Brenda Gonet, Best in Class, San Diego County Lifestyles
— Anastasia Kramsky, Best in Class, Public Service Advertising
— Marilyn Medina, Best in Class, Color Photography
— Brittany Ruiz, Best in Class, Digital Painting & Illustration
— Robin Shook, Best in Show/Best in Class Digital Composite Image
In the “Drafting” division, MiraCosta students won two Best in Show and three Best in Class awards:
— John Keeler, Best in Show/Best in Class, Architectural Model
— Curtis Odom, Best in Class, Technical Drafting-CAD
— Michael Smee, Best in Show/Best in Class, Architectural Drawing-Hand Drawn
Several MiraCosta College students assisted the San Diego Horticultural Society in making their exhibit, and also helped maintain it during the fair. Two of the students received awards, one for youth exhibits and one open to all other exhibitors.
