LEUCADIA — A line-up of local bands will play the Summer Fun on the 101: A Festival of Surf Music at 7:30 p.m. July 8 and July 9. The music is a celebration of the cultural crossroads of surfing and music — both a part of Leucadia’s history.
Starting at 6 p.m. July 8, bands will play at Lou’s Records, 434 N. Coast Highway 101, and then at Ducky Waddle’s, 414 N. Coast Highway 101, starting. The line-up of bands for the evening include The Fink Bombs, Space Nature, Mattson 2, Aloha Radio, Todd Day Wait, Trouble in the Wind and Glen and the Boys.
From noon to 8:30 p.m. July 9, the concert will be held at Leucadia Roadside Park, Coast Highway 101 and Leucadia Boulevard, with a second stage at Surfy Surfy, 978 N. Coast Highway 101, starting at 8:30 p.m. This day’s line up of bands include Starfish, Alejandro’s Awesome Surf Band, Glen and the Boys, Slacktone, Tropical Breeze; Tower 7, The Blank Tapes, Dirty Gold, Mattson 2, Old Tiger, Todd Day Wait and Boaz.
The Saturday event will also include a beer garden during the day, adjacent to the park. In addition to the music performed by local bands, Paul Ecke Central School’s “School as a Garden” program will benefit with a donation from the event, reminding Leucadia residents of the vitality of their local independent businesses and arts community.
