MCI gets new Sgt. Maj.

CAMP PENDLETON — Marine Corps Installations West welcomed a new sergeant major during a relief and retirement ceremony, May 27.
MCI West’s Sgt. Maj. Jeffrey H. Dixon, relinquished his post and retired after 30 years of dedicated service to the Marine Corps. Sgt. Maj Derrick Christovale Sr. assumed the post at the ceremony.
Dixon joined the Marine Corps in 1978 and became a reconnaissance Marine. He has been deployed multiple times around the world, including Iraq and Afghanistan and participating in the evacuation of the U.S. Embassy in Beirut. Dixon served as sergeant major of MAG 49 Det Bravo, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, and MCI West.
Christovale recently returned from a deployment to Afghanistan where he served with Headquarters and Service Company, 1st Marine Logistics Group (Fwd). While deployed he was slated for the billet of sergeant major, MCI West.
As MCI West Sergeant Major, Christovale will serve as the senior enlisted advisor to the commanding officer on all issues, but primarily focus on the morale, welfare and well-being of Marines and sailors.
