Artists send hope to tornado-ravaged states

CARLSBAD — Artists from the Phantom Gallery, 300 Carlsbad Village Drive, have come together in an effort to assist tornado disaster victims in other parts of the United States.
The artists are holding a silent auction dubbed “Staying Home in America,” at the gallery, by donating a piece of their own work. All money collected will be sent to the American Red Cross for help in the Alabama Tornado Disaster Relief.
The silent auction runs through June 23, when the gallery joins a collaboration of merchants, other artists and musicians for Thursdays On The Coast Art Experience. The event offers food, music, shopping, strolling the village and lots of art viewing.
“We try to help in any way we can and giving of our creative juices seemed like the perfect vehicle — an opportunity to give back to the community, as well as thank the co-directors of the Phantom Gallery for their faith in our work,” said E.G. Brennan who spearheaded the auction.
“It’s an all around winning situation for everyone,” Brennan said. “The winning bidder takes home a gorgeous original piece of art by an award-winning artist and the artists help our fellow Americans by ‘Staying Home’ and creating good will.”
