City Hall, Cole Library and Cultural Arts Offices Closed

A suspicious device was identified by city maintenance workers outside the City of Carlsbad’s Georgina Cole Library at approximately 8 a.m. this morning.
The city of Carlsbad Police Department was notified and is investigating.
The city of Carlsbad Fire Department and the Sheriff’s Bomb Squad are also on scene.
Employees were asked to vacate the Library building, City Hall and the Cultural Arts office as a precautionary measure.
These offices will remain closed until the area has been determined to be safe.
The Library Learning Center at 3368 Eureka Place is open to provide Library service.
The following streets have been closed as a precaution: Laguna at Pio Pico, Elmwood, and Knowles.
The public is asked to stay away from the area until further notice.
Protecting the public safety is the city’s top priority.
