Call for artists to create masks

SOLANA BEACH — North County artists are being asked to consider creating a mask or painting of an original design on a prefabricated mask for the 2011 Arts Alive on the Coastal Rail Trail.
The Solana Beach Public Arts Advisory Commission is looking for artists/creative people to join the project. The masks will be used at the Arts Alive on the Coastal Rail Trail event Oct. 2. Guidelines are that masks can be any size, shape, or material, and they can be functional, wearable or decorative, as long as they are sturdy and can tolerate outdoor elements.
The deadline for completed masks must be received at City Hall, 635 S. Coast Highway 101 by 5:30 p.m. Aug. 2.
Interested parties can make their own mask or a blank mask will be provided. Everyone is encouraged to be bold, creative and have fun.
To participate, contact Community Services Coordinator Anita Edman at (858) 720-2454.
